The Celtics waived guard Levi Randolph, and forwards Coty Clarke and Malcolm Miller cutting their roster down to 17 players in preparation for Mondays deadline.
By that time each NBA team must have their roster down to 15 players which means two more players will be walking out the door by weeks end.
According to Steve Bulpett of the Boston Herald, Celtics President of Basketball Operations, Danny Ainge would like to have the roster trimmed down by Saturday.
Corey Walden is an obvious candidate to be cut as he is the only non-guaranteed contract currently with the team and Bulpett suggests that Perry Jones will end up being the other. However, he says the C’s may in fact try to seek a trade for the 6’10 forward before cutting him.
Overall there is nothing too surprising here. What will be interesting is to see who out of Terry Rozier, R.J. Hunter, James Young, and Jordan Mickey can squeeze out minutes with the big club while the others are lacing up in Portland.
Despite Rozier’s nice showing the other night, I think Hunter out of the lot has shown that he has what it takes to hang with the boys on Causeway Street.
The only question is if he can manage through a full season with his current frame even in limited minutes. Everything else looks good to go.
