Reminder: Kelly Olynyk will not be suiting up for the Celtics tonight in their season opener.
K.O. was suspended for one game after this play in Game 4 of the opening round of the NBA playoffs between the Celtics and Cavaliers last year.
Kevin Love separated his shoulder on that play, which he later called “bush-league,” and missed the entire rest of the playoffs.
Since the Celtics were swept, Olynyk couldn’t serve that suspension, but did defend himself earlier last spring.
“I would never intentionally hurt Kevin or anyone else,” Olynyk told the Boston Herald. “He locked my arm up, I locked up his as we were fighting for a loose ball. You lock up arms all the time in this league.”
Kelly Olynyk had one of the more impressive preseasons out of the group of Celtics. He looked more aggressive on the offensive end and CSNNE’s Mike Gorman noted during one of the broadcasts that he seems much more mature coming into this season.
Ultimately, it’s a tough way for K.O. to start the season, but he’ll look to make the next jump in his career in 2015-16.
