Patriots Defense comes up big in 20-13 victory over Buffalo Bills

The New England Patriots came into Monday night football with a perfect 9-0 record, it wasn’t easy but the team improved to 10-0 with a  20 to 23  win   over the Buffalo Bills.   Rex Ryan said he had something for Tom Brady, and while Brady didn’t look great in the game he still was able to make enough plays to help his team win.

The Pats defense was the story of the game as they did a fine job at holding the Bills to 13 points in the victory.  The Patriots front was again a reason why the Patriots were able to win. The Pats came into the game as the second best defense against the run, they held the Bills for 30 carries for 94 yards.  27 of those yards came on one run by Shady McCoy for a touch down.  Enough good things can not be said about the cornerback play of Logan Ryan and Malcolm Butler.  Both corners came up big in the pass game and even bigger against the run.

I am never one to blame the refs but the referees again had a horrible game on Monday night football.  A huge inadvertent whistle cost the Patriots what could have been a very long pass if not a touch down to Danny Amendola.   The Patriots still moved the ball on the drive to the Bills side of the field but Stephen Gostkowski missed his first kick of the season.

It wasn’t all bad news for the special teams as Bernard King forced a fumble on a punt and it was recovered by Jonathan Freeney.  The Patriots were able to get a field goal and win the game.

Next up for the Patriots is a game in Denver.  The Patriots again will need to go against a good defense without some of their great players.  Patriots fans are undoubtedly holding their breath that Amendola’s injury does not keep him out next week.
