Though the Bruins and Canadiens may have looked the same when they met Tuesday night at the Bell Centre as they did the last time they met, rocking their 2016 Bridgestone Winter Classic Jerseys, the results were much different this time.
The last time these two clubs met, the Canadiens put an absolute spanking on the Bruins, embarrassing them on home ice at Gillette Stadium 5-1.
The Bruins took it into their own hands on Tuesday night, to make sure that didn’t happen again, routing the Canadiens 4-1 on their home ice.
David Pastrnak made the most of his return to the Bruins lineup, adding a goal and assist, playing alongside Zac Rinaldo and Max Talbot, who also added a goal Tuesday night.
Patrice Bergeron scored his team leading 18th goal of the season on Tuesday night, picking up a Pastrnak shot and wrapping it tight around the back of the net on Montreal goalie Mike Condon.
Bergeron’s goal put him in 9th place all-time on Bruins scoring list, passing tie with Bruins President, Cam Neely.
The Canadiens got their only offense from Mark Barberio, who scored his first goal in nearly a full season, 8:48 into the 2rd.
Brad Marchand put the nail in the coffin in the final two minutes, adding an empty-net-goal for his 17th goal of the year.
Tuukka Rask won his second straight game at the Bell Centre, he was winless in his previous 7.
Side Note: The jerseys of both teams Tuesday night, will be signed by their respective player, and are being auctioned off for the benefit of Denna Laing’s recovery, a professional woman’s hockey player who was injured in the day before the Winter Classic in a professional woman’s game played at Gillette Stadium.
