The Anaheim Ducks had 6 different goal scorers Monday night, as they skated to a 6-2 win over the Boston Bruins.
Corey Perry, David Perron, Ryan Kessler, Shea Theodore, Mike Santorelli and Kevin Bieska each tallied a goal as Frederik Andersen made 32 saves handing the Bruins (26-18-5) their first loss in their last 3 games.
“We’ve found some balance in the lines that we’re using and I think every line scored a goal again tonight” Coach Bruce Boudreau told reporters after the game. “Which is, if you’ve got four lines and they can all score, I think good things are going to happen.”
Bruins goalie Jonas Gustavsson was removed from the game after the first period and transferred to Mass Gerneral Hospital after making 14 saves on 16 shots. Gustavsson was replaced was Tuukka Rask, who made 19 saves on 22 shots.
“I just saw he felt ill or something after the first period and that was it.” Rask told reporters after the game.” Just drink some water and try and stay hydrated and stay focused, that’s about it, just follow the game, that’s really the idea.”
The Bruins jumped out to a quick lead early on the Ducks, scoring 00:40 into regulation on a Zach Trotman shot from the point, for his 1st of the season and first since April 2nd 2015.
It was all Ducks from there on out, scoring 4 unanswered goals from Perry, Theodore (PPG), Perron and Bieska.
“The first 10 minutes was good as well so that little lull, that middle 30 minutes, you know it wasn’t there. ”Said Torey Krug. “I think they brought it to us physically, they had more motion than us, and they were hitting us and we [weren’t] hitting [them] back. So I thought they came out and they took advantage of their opportunities when they did”
The Bruins would add another, to bring the score to 4-2, on a Zdeno Chara wrist shot, 2:04 into the 3rd period.
The Ducks would add two more in the remaining minutes on an empty net goal from Ryan Kesler and a very lackluster goal from Mike Santorelli.
The Bruins head into the All-Star break with 57 points and currently hold 3rd place in the Atlantic Division. The team is off until February 2nd, where they will take on the Toronto Maple Leafs, puck drop scheduled for 7:00 PM
